FAQ’S

+ WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO YOU WORK WITH?

I try not to limit myself too much in terms of the genres I work with. My music listening habits are extremely eclectic and honestly I like the projects I work on to reflect that – it keeps things interesting and means that I’m constantly exploring different production styles. Just in the last few months I have recorded and mixed artists from the folk, funk, psych rock, pop-punk, indie-rock, shoe-gaze, and black metal genres.

You can have a listen to some of these projects here on the page or if you would like to take a listen to some music that’s been inspiring me lately, take a listen to this Spotify Playlist.

+ HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RECORD WITH YOU?

Every recording and mixing project is different and I will be able to give you a more accurate quote by grabbing a few details from you on our Quotes page. Having said that, I like to think that Everland is one of the best value recording studios in Sydney so I think you'll find our prices very reasonable.

+ WHY EVERLAND STUDIOS?

The truth is that there are a lot of great recording studios in Sydney, so why choose Everland Studios? Well, I like to think that I’m great at what I do. I love recording and mixing music and I hope that it shows both during the production process and in the final product.

Choosing a recording studio is a very personal thing and at the end of the day it really comes down to choosing the recording studio and engineer that you feel most comfortable with. I go into more detail about that in my article about choosing a recording studio. I encourage people to make a time to visit the studio before they decide.

So please, get in contact and make a time to come past the studio for a chat.

+ I NEED A SESSION MUSICIAN. CAN YOU ORGANISE THAT?

In a word, yes. Once we’ve worked out the details of your recording, I can put you in touch with session musicians that fit with the style and genre of the project.

+ WHAT IS MASTERING AND DO YOU DO IT?

Mastering is the final layer of polish before your project is released. The mastering engineer receives a completed stereo mixes as a high quality digital .wav files. They evaluate the mixes and may apply EQ, compression, limiting or stereo widening to make the mixes sit well alongside other commercial releases. If the release contains multiple tracks they will also sequence the tracks, put the right amount of silence between them and make sure the transitions from one track to another sound smooth.

While I can master your music for you, if your budget allows for it I always recommend that you use a specialist mastering engineer. As the mix engineer I spend hours working on each mix so having a third party mastering engineer is a great way to have a fresh set of ears on the project. I can recommend a few great mastering engineers for you.

Have a look at this article for a more in-depth look at Mastering.

+ DO YOU HAVE ANY INSTRUMENTS OR AMPLIFIERS AVAILABLE TO USE?

Yes, we have some instruments and amplifiers that are available to use for recording. We also have two drum kits with various snares and cymbals available. The use of these instruments is included in your session fee - there’s no extra cost to you. You can take a look at a list on our Studio Specs page.

+ HOW FAR AHEAD DO I NEED TO BOOK AND HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

There’s no exact answer to this question. Weekends tend to book out more quickly than weekdays and if you are looking to book a longer session I recommend contacting us a least a couple of months out. With that said, we often have slots available on shorter notice so get in contact and we’ll work something out.

Payment is made by bank transfer. Once a booking has been made I will send you an invoice with the bank account details on it. For bookings of one day or less full payment must be made prior to the day of the session. For longer bookings a 50% deposit is required upfront to hold the dates with the balance being due before the final day of the booking.
